Soul Edge (PS1) Special Weapon Run - Hwang - Arcade - Ultra Hard - No Losses (Falchion)

Continuing on with the Special Weapon runs of Soul Edge this time around with Hwang and his Heavy but extremely powerful Falchion. The run will also be completed on the Ultra Hard difficulty with No Losses. Lets take a look below at Hwang's Falchion stats in numbers:

Power: 128.5%
Defense: 143.2%
Strength: 137.5%
Durability: 125.0%
Weight: 7 Bars/0.93 Speed
Range: 1.19
Pierce Damage: 20%
Pierce Weakness: 0%
Special Effects: None
As you can see by the stats alone, this weapon feels like it is an Ultimate Weapon as every stat is greatly above the 100.0% mark with the highest being its Defense at 143.2% which is only 2% lower then the maximum possible value for it. It also has the tied 2nd highest Strength at 137.5% and this Strength is coupled by a 20% Pierce Damage and 0% Pierce Weakness. As a nice bonus it has a Range modifier of 1.19. This weapon as one drawback and if it didnt have it, it would pretty much be a Ultimate Weapon which is that its Speed is only at 0.93 and you can feel that weight on some of Hwang's moves. My best guess is that the Falchion was originally meant to be Hwang's Ultimate Weapon instead of the Phantom as if the Falchion had better Speed like around the 1.06 mark, this weapon would be even crazier then it already is with its low speed. Gameplay wise Hwang will be almost completely upgraded but he will be abit more unsafe do to its Speed and one move in particular wont work properly anymore which is his Down, K, B. The B portion will barely miss the opponent as they will already touch the ground beforehand outside of a counter hit on the sweep portion so if you wanna use this move, you have to use only the Down, K portion. Despite its lower Speed, Hwang's long distance pokes still come out very fast and now with the 20% Pierce Damage + 137.5% Strength will punish blocking extremely hard. If you compare the Falchion to his Phantom Ultimate Weapon, every stat besides the Range and Durability are way above it which makes it the first instance where a Special Weapon may work better then its respective Ultimate depending on your playstyle. The Falchion still makes you play Hwang as normal but the Phantom requires a completely different style of play and mindset to make it work and not many players are able to or can play at those levels of lame the Phantom is able to provide you.
