The Golden Calf vs The Tabernacle — Same Gold, Different Heart - Torah Portion Vayakhel & Pekudei

Описание: The children of Israel were commanded to bring contributions for the construction of the holy Tabernacle.

The people begin by bringing various items and many goods are brought, from gold and silver, to goat’s hair and spices. Much is brought, and the work of the people greatly increases; offerings keep coming each day until finally an order is sent throughout the camp to stop giving, as there is more than enough to complete the construction of the Tabernacle.

Later, the fine details of the furnishings that make up the Tabernacle are revealed and we finally see how the craftsmen who were divinely gifted to produce the many components are given wisdom and understanding to assist in the making of YAH’s holy dwelling-place.

In Pekudei, a count is made of the precious metals donated for use in the construction of the Tabernacle, the gold, silver, and bronze. The craftsmen set apart for the work, Betsalel, Aholiab, and their assistants, complete the priestly garments exactly as Adonai had specified to Moses.

The production of the individual components of the Tabernacle is completed and they are brought together, constructed and raised in the presence of Moses, who proceeds to bless it and anoint it with the holy anointing oil. Moses proceeds to bless and anoint Aaron and his sons, officially appointing them as the priesthood.

Following this, a cloud descends on the Tabernacle and Moses is told that he cannot enter as YAH's presence has filled the tent. The cloud becomes the beacon for the children of Israel during the day and a column of fire their beacon at night, knowing that its presence signifies that YAH is with them and its movement signifies that they must pack up the camp and move on.
