Standing on one of the old railway alignments here, you can still see just how industrial this landscape once was.
All around are the remains of dressing floors, ore storage areas, and engine houses, with Caradon Hill and South Wheal Phoenix overlooking the scene.
These dressing floors were mostly gravity fed. Ore was loaded at higher levels and worked down through the system before being tipped into wagons on the lower railway below.
Hard to imagine now, but 150-200 years ago this was a hugely productive and prosperous mining district.
