#DalKhichdi is a simple and easy recipe made from rice and lentils. #MoongDalKhichdi is considered to be one of the first solid foods that babies eat. Learn to cook this one-pot recipe at home. Dal Khichdi can be cooked in just under 30 minutes. This easy and healthy recipe can make a comforting lunch.
#DalKhichdiRecipe:
Rice - 1 Cup
Moong Dal - ½ Cup
Water - 6 Cups + 1 ½ Cups
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Bay Leaf - 1 no
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Onion (thinly sliced) - 1 no
Tomato (finely chopped) - 1 no
Green Chilli (slit) - 2 nos
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Beans (chopped) - ½ Cup
Carrot (chopped) - ½ Cup
Potato (chopped) - ½ Cup
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Asafoetida (Hing) - ½ tsp
Salt - 3 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp
Cooking Instructions:
1. Wash the rice, moong dal with some water. Remove the water and set them aside.
2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Saute the bay leaf and cumin seeds on a low flame.
3. Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilli, onion and fry until fragrant. Sprinkle asafoetida.
4. Add tomato, carrot, beans, potato, salt, turmeric powder and saute for 2 minutes.
5. Add drained rice, moong dal and mix well.
6. Add 6 cups of water and mix well.
7. Pressure cook for 6 to 7 whistles on a medium flame. Let the pressure settle on its own.
8. Add 1 ½ cups of water and mix well on high flame for 2 mins.
9. Garnish with coriander leaves, more ghee and serve it hot for lunch.
