Join me for a ‪@UDUMBARA_Helsinki‬ week in the hills of Tolfa, where artists met to explore raw clay, organic materials, and temporary sculpture.

I stayed in a beautifully restored monastery, Convento dei Cappuccini, and each day we worked at the Polo Culturale di Tolfa with clay from Tuscany. We mixed in sawdust, leaves, and other organic materials to build sculptures that would return naturally to the earth—no firing, no waste.

The weather challenged us with heavy rain and humidity, and I had to change my original plans. But that is the magic of raw clay: it teaches patience, creativity, and acceptance. It is a joyful way of making art with almost no environmental impact.


This symposium reminded me how important it is to work with our hands and to stay connected to nature. This video inspires you to explore raw clay and discover the freedom it offers.
