A 15 year old Quarter Horse gelding injured the right hind suspensory ligament in a roping competition.
His owner gave him several months to rest but it was unsuccessful as his lameness persisted.
The following treatment consisted of intralesional stem cells known as PulpCyte®, controlled exercise, and serial ultrasound scans to guide exercise.
After 13 weeks, the lameness in the horse improved dramatically. Sonographic study showed marked improvement of the injured suspensory ligament.
This horse went on not only to be pasture sound from this severe injury but returned to low level under saddle use.
