Hi, and welcome back to module 3! In this module, I will focus specifically on sleep-related breathing patterns in children and how those patterns may influence regulation, attention, and participation during the day.
As occupational therapists, we often see the daytime impact of disrupted sleep on participation and daily routines, even when the connection to sleep has not yet been recognized. Parents often come to us with clues. As occupational therapists, we get to play detective and connect those clues to participation, routines, and occupational performance. My hope is that this module helps us look at sleep through a slightly different OT lens.
This educational module is for professional learning purposes only. Occupational therapists support sleep through routines, environments, and participation, and collaborate with healthcare providers when diagnostic concerns are identified.
This content reflects current occupational therapy frameworks and evidence-informed practice and may not address all individual sleep needs or complex medical conditions.
Clinical decisions should be made in collaboration with families, caregivers, and relevant healthcare providers.
