Silicone for sink wastes?

The first job is an outside tap that’s constantly leaking at a house that’s not attended and their neighbour has reported that there is a constant stream of water coming from the outside tap. This job is nice and simple. You just need to locate the main water shut off and shut the supply to the tap so you’re able to unwind the old faulty tap and install a brand-new one. Because the threads are wet, I like to use PTFE tape as it can be easily undone with no heat required and it doesn’t matter if there’s water still coming out.

So the first job done second job I’ve got caught out too is a kitchen sink tap that constantly drips and was required to fit a new one . Space underneath the tap with really tight it doesn’t look at because I managed to get the camera angles needed to show the job off but it was tight and I didn’t want to replace all the Plumbing underneath, even though it was dreadful because there was nice connections for me to get back onto so simply turn the water off disconnect the old tap hoses from the inlet fence and do the back nut to remove the tap and simply do all in reverse but with the new tap and hoses.

The last couple of the day was a leak from the Belfast sink waste . Whenever the customer round water it just constantly leaked from underneath. Belfast sinks can be quite tricky because they’re really thick and there’s not a lot of wastes that suit the thickness of the Belfast sink and I think I quickly learn this as I brought a waste that I thought would fit but turns out that the thread wasn’t long enough so I had to clean up the old one as best as I can and buy a whole new trap to replace the seals for a new one. For the top side I like to add silicon underneath as it takes out all the imperfections of the casting. An end side I used more silicon as I did fit dry to start with which I didn’t film but there was gaps even though the waste was tight. Because I used sealant, I had to wait for it to go off to be able to test so I let the customer do the test for me after a few days and told them to let me know if there’s any problems so I can come in and sort it.
