Services on this route usually operate hourly between Stratford and Whitlocks End with a half hourly service from Whitlocks End to Birmingham. On Weekdays/Saturdays this routes services operate all stations to Stourbridge Junction then fast to Kidderminster where they terminate. On Sundays services operate hourly throughout but operate through to Worcester Shrub Hill/Foregate Street semi fast. Stratford has a second Bimringham service each hour which operates via Solihull. Between Stratford and WIlmcote there are additional Chiltern Railway services to Leamington Spa/London Marylebone. WMR operate additional services between Tyseley and Stourbridge on this route from Dorridge to Worcester with Chiltern operating limited services as far as Stourbridge Junction.

At Stourbridge Junction there is connection to the people mover class 139 to Stourbridge Town every 10 minutes. At Jewellery Quarter and The Hawthorns there is interchange witht the West Midlands Metro tram between Edgbaston Village and Wolverhampton Railway Staiton which the Snow Hill lines operate alongside between Birmingham Snow Hill and The Hawthorns. Birmingham New Street is a short interchange walk from Birmignham Moor Street.

The rolling stock on this route is class 172 Turbostar 2 and 3 carriage DMU trains which usually operate in multiple to form 4, 5 and 6 carriage services. Class 196 CAF Civity can be used if requried. Previously limited Snow Hill services were formed of class 153 Sprinter and class 170 Turbostar which have now left WMR. Before the class 172 class 150 Sprinter operated services on this route.

This route is uneelctrified throughout. This route is double track throughout with the Metro tracks being an additional pair alongside the national rail tracks where they run parallal.
