We carefully refine and smooth the lines of the jin and shari using both power tools and hand tools.
While preserving the rugged texture and natural movement created so far, we gently remove only the unnatural edges and rough spots so the flow connects more naturally and seamlessly.
By making subtle adjustments that follow the movement of the trunk, the jin and shari begin to feel more unified, and the overall expression of the Shimpaku becomes more refined and balanced.
As the surfaces are smoothed, the shadows and highlights become clearer, adding a calm elegance while still keeping the tree’s wild and powerful character.
There are no dramatic changes in this process, but it is a crucial finishing step that greatly affects the final quality of the bonsai.
