While carefully checking the flow of the trunk and the connection with each branch, I shape the jin to achieve a more natural and refined expression.
Little by little, I remove unnatural edges and steps, aiming for lines that look as if they were naturally weathered over many years.
Rather than simply making the jin thinner, I focus on its movement, direction, and harmony with the trunk, bringing out the rugged character and quiet power that are unique to Shimpaku juniper.
I work carefully to avoid carving too much, keeping natural shadows and three-dimensional depth in mind.
Each small cut gradually transforms the expression of the jin and improves the overall quality of the bonsai.
