Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat was about to launch the Lifeboat for sea trails after routine maintenance, as the Lifeboat was heading down the Slip way, SSILB was tasked to reports from Solent Coastguard of a small tender (four foot inflatable tender), which was close to the Westen Princessa Cardinal Marker just off from Bembridge Ledge, with no lifejackets on and were too far out for the Coastguards comfort, Bembridge Coastguard station had been observing the vessel, which appeared to be that they were fishing off of the back of the tender and SCG requested the Lifeboat went to them to give the owner safety advice.

On scene the Lifeboats 2nd Coxswain gave advice about lifejackets, other safety equipment advice on flares and a VHF radio - all of which was not on-board their vessel. The 2nd Coxswain asked the owner where the vessel was haboured, asked for details and a return time of when they were going to head back into Bembridge Harbour.

The details were then passed onto Solent Coastguard, so if they over ran and had a report of the vessel not returning, that they had a point of contact and means of checking.

The Lifeboat was thanked and stood down form the tasking.

The lifeboat returned to station, refuelled, washed down andre-housed ready for the next tasking.
