Anna and Joseph wanted to adopt a child. They spent a lot of time with little Ben, quickly growing to love him. Finally, they decided to make it official – they wanted the kid to legally become their son. However, as they were about to sign all the documents, the worker at the agency suddenly refused them. Anna began to cry, not understanding why the child she adored couldn’t be a part of her family. Joseph was just as frustrated. But he knew why the worker changed her mind in a heartbeat. 

It was the first time the woman saw the couple in person. And she didn’t like that Joseph was a black man.
