Today we say goodbye to Majuli and begin our road trip to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. For Lakshmi, this is a special moment — her first time visiting Arunachal after dreaming about it for years.

Our journey from Majuli to Itanagar takes us through beautiful yellow mustard fields and across the Subhansiri River before reaching the city by evening. Just before entering Itanagar, we stop at a small roadside local market where the friendly local women welcome us warmly. From fresh oranges and pineapple to homemade chicken pickle, bamboo products and leafy vegetables — this market gave us a real glimpse of local life in Northeast India.

After checking into our homestay in Itanagar, we head straight on a food mission — to try the famous Jhol Momo that Lakshmi has been seeing on Instagram for a long time. But the surprises don’t end there! While exploring a bigger local market in Itanagar, we even spot silkworms being sold — a sustainable protein source loved by locals in Arunachal Pradesh.

To make the evening even more interesting, we meet an Arunachali brother working at a Sikkim restaurant who speaks fluent Malayalam and Tamil after years in Kerala — proof that travel connects India in the most unexpected ways.
