Nebraska football opened the season with a 20–17 win over Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium. Sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns, running back Emmett Johnson added 108 yards on the ground, and Malcolm Hartzog Jr. sealed the game with an interception in the end zone with 34 seconds left. The victory marked Nebraska’s first season-opening win over a Power Five opponent since 2003.

On the volleyball court, No. 1 Nebraska stormed back to reverse sweep No. 7 Kentucky in Nashville. After dropping the first two sets, the Huskers responded with a 25–19, 25–23, 15–8 finish to claim the match. Harper Murray led the way with a career-high 23 kills, hitting .340 with 15 digs and 5 blocks. Key lineup changes by head coach Dani Busboom Kelly after set 2 included Olivia Mauch stepping in at libero and Virginia Adriano at opposite, which helped spark the comeback. Nebraska outhit Kentucky .221 to .168 and won the dig battle 73–60.

Both teams showed grit and resilience, setting the tone for the season ahead.
