Originally envisioned as a vibrant hub with futuristic architecture and a free-port status, Anaklia’s grand plans faded shortly after the departure of former president Saakashvili. What remains today is a windswept, quiet town with strikingly bold structures—empty hotels, an extravagant pedestrian bridge, and a stunningly unique café tower that never opened.

Anaklia, home to just 1,300 residents, carries the charm of a quiet Georgian village. Palm trees sway next to traditional homes, while cows wander freely through its streets. Despite the decline, the town’s unusual beauty and still-standing architecture make it an intriguing place to explore.
