This session examines how the GCC and BRICS, as two influential blocs, are advancing connectivity frameworks that shape the geopolitical and economic order. As BRICS expands its membership and explores alternatives to traditional financial systems, including discussions around a common currency and enhanced South-South cooperation, the Gulf states are positioning themselves as vital bridges between East and West .
The panel will explore the evolving strategic partnerships between these blocs, including investment corridors, energy transition, and technological collaboration. With BRICS’ recent expansion that included regional players such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, and potential future partners like Bahrain, Chile, and Colombia, the discussion will consider what this means for the future architecture of global governance.
Experts will discuss whether these emerging alliances stand for a fundamental shift toward multipolarity, how the GCC can use its unique position between BRICS and Western powers, and what diplomatic and strategic opportunities lie ahead as both blocs navigate an increasingly fragmented international landscape.
