The 18 Exercises Tai Chi Chi Kung video is performed by Sifu Paul Nathan. The moving meditation places emphasis on synchronizing the 18 movements with proper breathing techniques. It is a gentle, beautiful and flowing Qigong exercise routine that is a joy to do and deeply relaxing. It is designed to improve the general health and wellbeing of the practitioner.
In order to develop the meditative state in Taiji Qigong Shibashi, we use 2 different method depending on the ability of each student. The first and easiest one is to use mental imagery that resonate with the movement. IE separating the clouds we can imagine swimming in the sky and pushing soft fluffy cloud apart or Turning the body to look at the moon, we will imagine being under the full moon and turn around to grab it with our hands. Using images will help keep the mind focus on one point and not be distracted.
Once it becomes easier to stay focused during the practice, the next step is to enter in the state of tranquility (RuJing) and start observing the effect of the Qi in the body as we move.
