Australia Part 48: Banded Stilts at last! Birding Doug Grant Reserve & O'Donohue Track, Oct 26

Описание: Today was a day of transport, from Werribee eastwards through Melbourne and further, to O'Donohue Picnic Ground. I think it's situated in a corner of the Dandenongs?
First, however, we checked if that large flock of Banded Stilts had been sighted and if so, where. They had, at Doug Grant Reserve, that was on the way (more or less).
This time the birds still present when we arrived! The place where we parked the car was at Truganina Park, and then we walked a track along Laverton Creek and eventually spotted the birds. The distance was a bit too much to enjoying them, so we walked back and crossed the Laverton Creek footbridge into Doug Grant Reserve. Then we hoofed it along another track until we were more opposite the flock. At one point they got spooked by something and flew up, took a lap and then landed at the same spot again.
After 90 minutes we were back at the car and continued our traverse eastwards.
At 1:20 PM we arrived to O'Donohue Picnic Area, since it was still too early for check-in at Braeside Bliss. We walked the trail towards Sherbrooke Creek, ofc hoping for Superb Lyrebird. No luck in that regard. We also searched for Striated Thornbill but only saw Brown dittos. Another Target Bird was Crescent Honeyeater, but we didn't see any. But, we were somewhat convinced we heard them, but we'll wait until we're sure. That was along Sherbrooke Track back towards the car. There we also spotted a Red-browed Treecreeper VERY high up on a tree trunk. We spotted many Crimson Rosellas and the screeching of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos was heard "everywhere".
We checked in at Braeside Bliss, not far away, and it had a very nice garden... With its own Satin Bowerbird bower.
