(Apr. 26, 2024) For me, this is personal. I had the opportunity to speak on Bill 24, the Energy Statutes Amendment Act, and it let me share some of the reasons I became involved in provincial politics. Specifically, protecting our natural resources and investing in clean power sources, but also the importance of proper financial management.
As someone who cares about the environment and is concerned about climate change, we need to responsibly manage Crown Corporations like BC Hydro. That is why, under our government, B.C. Hydro rates are 15.6% lower than the cumulative rate of inflation over the past seven years.
This bill helps to close the chapter on fiscal mismanagement of the past, in favour of a balanced and reasonable approach to acquiring energy for a cleaner, brighter future.
