Season Two - Episode Eleven: "Mandala"

When Walt and Jesse's crew of dealers dries up, their trusty lawyer Saul offers an interesting alternative. Meanwhile, Skyler confronts Ted when she makes a troubling discovery at work. Jesse puts himself and the operation at risk when he tells Jane what he really does for a living.

Episode Overview:
As Walt ignores his pregnant wife’s concerns about the cost and opts for a $200,000 cancer surgery, fallout from his efforts to expand their turf hits home when Jesse’s friend and street dealer, Combo, is murdered. Upset at Walt’s apparent indifference to his loss, Jesse tries in vain to keep his rapidly deteriorating network of dealers from bolting. Left without a way to distribute their product on the street, Walt and Jesse turn to lawyer Saul Goodman. And though Saul agrees to set them up with someone who can move large quantities of meth, when Walt and Jesse arrive at a fast food restaurant to meet him, their mysterious contact fails to show.

Though she’s now in the home stretch of her pregnancy, Skyler continues going to work, increasingly inspired by her growing affection for her boss, Ted Beneke. But in the wake of a surprise birthday party for Ted where she’s called on to sing a sexy version of “Happy Birthday,” Skyler uncovers accounting problems that suggest he’s failed to report nearly a million dollars of income. And when confronted with the evidence, Ted admits to cooking the books to keep his family business from going under. Meanwhile, even though Saul says the wholesaler they were scheduled to meet with doesn’t want to do business with them, Walt refuses to take no for an answer. So after returning to the restaurant in hopes of making contact on his own, he meets the unassuming manager, who agrees to consider a deal.

Unaware that Walt is looking to sell their product, Jesse asks Jane to leave him alone so he can deal with his sorrow over Combo’s death the only way he knows how – by getting high. While Jane does her best to honor his request, she ends up falling off the wagon herself and joining in the drug binge. Once Walt makes a deal for over $1 million and heads to Jesse’s apartment to pick up the rest of their inventory, he discovers Jesse and Jane high and living in squalor. Finally, as he manages to uncover the spot where Jesse hid their stash, a phone message from Skyler telling him that she’s about to have the baby leaves Walt facing the choice between rushing to the hospital and completing the drug deal.
