In this video we teach you how to install a Wyze Smart Thermostat with No Common wire. The Wyze Thermostat requires a common wire for installation but not all existing thermostat wiring will have a common wire available for installing the Wyze Smart Thermostat.

How we are able to install the Wyze Thermostat without A C Wire is by repurposing the Fan Wire (G Wire) which is typically green and wiring it in as a C wire in both the C terminal on the Wyze Thermostat and the C terminal on the HVAC system control board.

In most cases and with most newer HVAC systems the fan will automatically kick on whenever your heating or cooling turns on so the only purpose of the fan is if you want to circulate air throughout your home without the heat or cooling being on. Since many people don't use the fan only control the wire can be repurposed as a C wire to provide power to the Wyze Smart Thermostat. The HVAC system should still operate normally but you will lose the ability to independently control the fan if you repurpose the G wire as a C wire.

The Wyze smart thermostat does come with a Common wire adapter or C wire adapter that supposedly allows you to maintain G wire/Fan control independently but in my experience installing the Wyze Thermostat with the C wire adapter I could not get the thermostat to turn on and it was non functional. So I abandoned using the C wire adapter and just repurposed using the G wire as a C wire (common wire)
