A peaceful daytime walk through a local neighborhood in Yokohama, Japan.
This walk begins near Sasage Inari Shrine in Konan Ward, a small local shrine dedicated to Inari, the Shinto deity often associated with prosperity, agriculture, and fox messengers. Shrines like this can be found all across Japan and have long served as spiritual centers for local communities.
The route continues through the quiet residential streets of Konan Ward and passes near the Yokohama Detention House, a correctional facility operated by Japan’s Ministry of Justice.
Along the way, the walk stops by Amaterasu Daijingu Shrine, a shrine dedicated to Amaterasu, the sun goddess and one of the most important deities in Japanese Shinto belief. Many shrines throughout Japan honor Amaterasu, reflecting her central role in Japanese mythology and culture.
The walk ends near Konan-Chuo Station, located on the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line. This area serves as the administrative center of Konan Ward and offers a glimpse into everyday suburban life in Yokohama, away from the busy tourist districts.
Enjoy a calm walk through the peaceful streets of Yokohama on a beautiful day.
