Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour Slams Ghana’s ‘Cowardly’ UN Vote Abstention, on LGBTQ Rights, Calls It a Shift from National Values
Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, criticized Ghana’s abstention in the UN Human Rights Council vote on July 7, 2025, to renew the mandate on protection against violence & discrimination based on sexual orientation. Speaking on Adom FM, he said, “Abstaining means Ghana don’t have the courage to make decision on our own and it’s a complete shift from our position as a country.”
In a similar interview with Asempa FM, he also gave a one-week ultimatum to name those delaying the anti-LGBTQ+ bill’s gazetting, intensifying pressure on the Mahama administration.
