February 14th is no longer a universal feast day for St. Valentine in the Catholic Church's general Roman calendar, but rather an optional commemoration, while the main liturgical observance honors Saints Cyril and Methodius.
Liturgical Status
The feast of St. Valentine was removed from the General Roman Calendar in 1969 during liturgical reforms following Vatican II due to historical uncertainties about the saint's life.
February 14 now marks the obligatory memorial of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the ordinary form of the Roman Rite.
St. Valentine remains recognized in the Roman Martyrology and can be optionally celebrated via Mass or local devotion.
