বাংলাদেশে প্রচলিত পদ্ধতিতে নির্বাচন হতে দেয়া হবে না বলে মন্তব্য করেছেন ইসলামী আন্দোলনের আমীর সৈয়দ মুহাম্মাদ রেজাউল করীম। বিকেলে শাহবাগে ইসলামী ছাত্র আন্দোলনের প্রতিষ্ঠাবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে ছাত্র সমাবেশে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে তিনি একথা বলেন। সৈয়দ রেজাউল করিম বলেন, বাংলাদেশের সিংহভাগ রাজনৈতিক দল পিআর পদ্ধতিতে নির্বাচন চায়। তাই জনগণ পিআর চায় কিনা তা জানতে দরকার হলে গণভোট করতে হবে। সংস্কার এবং বিচার নিয়ে যে ওয়াদা অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার করেছিলো তা তারা ভঙ্গ করেছে বলেও অভিযোগ করেন তিনি। বলেন, জুলাইয়ের গণহত্যাকারীদের বিচার নিশ্চিতের পর জাতীয় নির্বাচন হতে হবে।

Islamic Movement Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim has said that elections will not be allowed to be held in Bangladesh using the conventional method. He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a student rally marking the founding anniversary of the Islamic Student Movement at Shahbagh in the afternoon. Syed Rezaul Karim said that the majority of political parties in Bangladesh want elections using the PR method. Therefore, a referendum should be held if it is necessary to know whether the people want PR or not. He also accused the interim government of breaking its promise regarding reforms and justice. He said that national elections should be held after ensuring the trial of the July genocide perpetrators.
