This video shows what happens to both open and enclosed emitter, pistol red dot sights, when dropped on concrete while attached to a rifle. I see many people putting open emitter pistol sights on LPVOs without realizing they are not nearly as durable as rifle sized red dots. This test was to find out if enclosed pistol sized red dots were durable enough to use in a rifle red dot application. I only test the ability for the optic to not break, I did not test zero retention. As a side note, multiple other open emitter red dots broke when I tested them in a similar way, but with the weight of a pistol. If you think something was done wrong, let me know. This is not scientific but just a data point to help you decide on which optic body style you may want to choose.
