“Rain On The Showcase”

The street was painted green
and drowning in beer foam laughter.

A stage stood in the rain
pretending to be organized.

Young guitars screamed into wet speakers
like soldiers fighting static.

Then the yelling started.

Sharp.
Ugly.
Pointed at the quietest man in the room.

A bottle flew.

Plastic thunder in the storm.

And suddenly I was there
standing between rage and innocence
again.

Police lights flashed
like broken disco balls.

The rain kept falling
like the sky was embarrassed for us.

No leader.
No owner.
Just noise wearing authority.

But somewhere between chaos
and the echo of sirens

I remembered something.

Even storms need witnesses.

And tonight
I was one.
