Plato offers fertile material for gender studies. Particularly controversial is Republic's guardian breeding strategy. This talk compares feminist approaches to this text with analysis informed by social constructionism, to suggest that interpretation of women's treatment & roles is largely dependent on the lens through which one views the text.
