Описание: At least 23 people, including 11 children, have lost their lives after falling into abandoned illegal mining pits across the Ashanti Region.

Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene says 19 bodies have been retrieved, while four victims remain trapped underground. Many of the victims reportedly fell into uncovered pits while using routes to their farms.

The tragic figures have renewed concerns about the dangers posed by abandoned galamsey sites, with authorities beginning efforts to reclaim and cover the pits to prevent further loss of lives.
