Get Out and Ride - Cumberland, MD

Описание: On our latest Get Out and Ride, Natalie takes us along her favorite section of the iconic Great Allegheny Passage, from Meyersdale, PA to Cumberland, MD. These 35 miles have no shortage of highlights.⁣

Natalie likes to start at the train station in Meyersdale. Before heading East along the Passage, she takes a quick detour West to the 2000-feet long Salisbury Viaduct, which carries cyclists and pedestrians 100 feet above the Casselman River. On her way back to Cumberland, Natalie passes several notable features, including the mile-long Big Savage tunnel, scenic steam train Mountain Thunder, and Cumberland Bone Cave, where paleontologists have found an astounding 32 extinct species. Just look out for winter closures of the tunnel!⁣

This route is also home to not ONE, but TWO geographic boundaries: the Mason-Dixon line, marking the boundary between the northern and the southern states, and the Eastern Continental Divide.⁣
