A Triple Threat Heads to Earth & A New Flaring Region Appears | Solar Storm Forecast 15 April 2025

Activity on our Sun has picked up in a big way. Not only do we have this "triple threat" of storms arriving over the next couple of days, but we also have a big coronal hole that should begin sending us some fast wind next week. Although this coronal hole does not have the proper polarity for big shows at mid-latitudes, it might once again cause aurora shows at high latitudes to be quite vivid. This means we could reach G2 (possibly G3-levels) several times over the next two weeks! Amateur radio operators, expect the noise on the bands to die down slightly over the next 24 hours, but then the noise will pick up again as more regions rotate into view through week's end. Expect R1-level radio blackouts to remain an issue over this week with conditions possibly worsening as we move into next week.
