Let's take a walk!
Today we are in Sambil, one of the many malls in Santo Domingo. Sambil is located smack dab in the middle of the city (Distrito Nacional) and is accessible by the vast majority of the Capital, including Santo Domingo Este (Santo Domingo - East) by way of the metro which is a 2-3 minute motorcycle ride or a 10-15 minute walk away. This mall is neither very old, nor super new. The stores that you will find inside are middle-of-the-pack: not particularly extravagant, but there are definitely some bigger name brands inside. Sambil is probably the most "cosmopolitan" of the shopping malls in the country, servicing primarily the upper-lower economic class folks up to middle-middle class folks and you'll find people from all walks of life within.
One interesting feature of Sambil is that is it a particularly family friendly mall are there is an especially large food court with a plethora of seating, as well as 4-5 different game/arcade centers for families and young adults.
Recently the food court area of Sambil has undergone renovations and I was surprised to see how much more modern it is. There are a bunch of new, little restaurants with a new seating area separate from the main fourt court area that look higher quality and well worth checking out.
