After Coercive Control: Monique Tepe's Survival, Healing, and the Long Shadow

But healing doesn't mean the fear disappears. According to the unsealed affidavit, surveillance footage shows Michael McKee walking through the Tepes' yard while Monique was at a football game in Indianapolis. She left at halftime. There's no documented tip-off. Her body just knew.

That's not paranoia. That's what years of alleged coercive control do to a human nervous system.

We examine the long shadow—the hypervigilance that never switches off, the amygdala stuck in overdrive, the PTSD rates that match combat veterans, the triggers hiding in ordinary moments.
