Описание: In 2026, the world faces an unprecedented food security emergency. According to the World Food Programme's (WFP) 2026 Global Outlook, 318 million people are confronting acute hunger (crisis levels or worse) across 68 countries more than double pre-pandemic levels from 2019. Among them, 41 million are at Emergency or catastrophic levels (IPC Phase 4+), with confirmed famines in parts of Sudan and Gaza, and high risks in hotspots like Haiti, Mali, Palestine, South Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, DRC, Myanmar, Nigeria, Somalia, and Syria.
Conflict drives 69% of these cases, displacing millions and blocking aid, but climate shocks intensified droughts, floods, storms, and extreme weather are the major accelerator. Extreme events caused $50 billion in global economic losses in 2025 alone, devastating crops, livestock, and supply chains. Rising temperatures reduce staple crop yields (maize, wheat, rice) by 4-10% per degree of warming, even with adaptations, while food prices for climate-hit items rise up to 4x faster, fueling inflation and "hidden hunger" (micronutrient deficiencies) that affect billions, especially children and women.
This video breaks down the crisis: the shocking statistics, how climate change fuels the process, real-world impacts in hunger hotspots, and hope through solutions
climate-smart agriculture, resilient crops, AI tools for aid delivery, mitigation to cut emissions, and urgent calls for funding ($13 billion needed by WFP to reach just 110 million people).
Is the global food system breaking? What can we do to prevent billions facing crises by 2100? Watch now for the facts, visuals, and pathways forward.
