Georgia Cave Expedition

I am pleased to present the short film “Georgia - Cave Expedition,” which chronicles the international expedition that took place in Georgia in 2022.

The aim of this expedition was to document and describe troglobiotic and troglophilic species in 12 different caves across Georgia. By doing so, we aimed to deepen our understanding of the subterranean ecosystems, contribute to global scientific knowledge of these species, and support efforts in nature conservation.

The expedition team comprised eight specialists, including cavers, biologists, geneticists, taxonomists, and photographers from Georgia, the Netherlands, Serbia, and Greece. The Georgian team graciously hosted the other members and oversaw the entire expedition.

Είμαι στην ευχάριστη θέση να παρουσιάσω το ντοκιμαντέρ μικρού μήκους "Georgia - Cave Expedition", η οποία καταγράφει την διεθνή αποστολή που πραγματοποιήθηκε στη Γεωργία το 2022.

Στόχος αυτής της αποστολής ήταν η καταγραφή και περιγραφή των τρογλοβιοτικών και τρογλόφιλων ειδών σε 12 διαφορετικές σπηλιές σε όλη τη Γεωργία. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο, επιδιώξαμε να εμβαθύνουμε την κατανόησή μας για τα υπόγεια οικοσυστήματα, να συμβάλουμε στη διεθνή επιστημονική γνώση αυτών των ειδών και να υποστηρίξουμε τις προσπάθειες για τη διατήρηση της φύσης.

Η ομάδα της αποστολής απαρτίστηκε από οκτώ ειδικούς, συμπεριλαμβανομένων σπηλαιολόγων, βιολόγων, γενετιστών, ταξινομητών και φωτογράφων από τη Γεωργία, την Ολλανδία, τη Σερβία και την Ελλάδα. Η Γεωργιανή ομάδα έδειξε φοβερή φιλοξενία στα υπόλοιπα μέλη και συντόνισε ολόκληρη την αποστολή.
