Hitchhiking in a Long Truck in Iran: A Tale of Iranian Hospitality and Friendship

Hitchhiking is a great way to explore a country and meet new people, and my experience in Iran was no exception. I had heard so much about the hospitality and warmth of Iranians, and my experience hitchhiking in a long truck with an amazing driver and human called Mehdi proved it to be true.

I was traveling alone in Iran and had just finished exploring the ancient ruins of Persepolis in Shiraz and wanted to reach Bander Abbas when I found myself stranded on the side of the road with no way to continue my journey. As I was walking and trying to find a ride, a long truck pulled over, and the driver, Mehdi, offered to give me a ride.

I was a bit hesitant at first, as I had never hitchhiked in a truck before, but Mehdi's friendly demeanor and welcoming smile put me at ease. As we drove through the winding roads of Iran, we chatted and exchanged stories about our lives and cultures.

Mehdi was a kind and generous man, and as we approached our destination, he surprised me with a gift of a costly ruby ring as a token of our newfound friendship. I was touched by his generosity and the kindness he showed me, a complete stranger.

This experience was a perfect example of Iranian hospitality and the genuine warmth of its people. Iranians are known for their friendliness, and it was clear to me that Mehdi was no exception. He went out of his way to make sure that I was safe and comfortable, and I will always be grateful for his kindness.
