Mario Bros. Classic (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание: A playthrough of Nintendo's 1993 PAL NES game, Mario Bros. Classic. It was never released in the US despite the American rerelease being marketed under the "Arcade Classics Series" label.

Played to Round 31. The levels repeat with little difference but the speeds at which the enemies in later stages travel, so I didn't see a need to go any farther once I got a game over.

On the surface, this cart looks just like the original US release, but the differences become quite apparent as soon as the game begins. In addition to the "how to play" intro, the intermission scenes, and the icicles that were restored for this release, the controls have been changed for the better - in a BIG way.

It takes the controls that were used in Kaettekita Mario Bros. (an advertising vehicle for Nagatanien foods, using the brothers to advertise things like instant noodles and soup mixes), which made it feel MUCH more modern, especially in the jumping controls that now allow you to change direction in mid-air. It's exactly the type of the change the game needed to inject it with new life - it certainly got me back into Mario Bros. long after I thought I'd retired the game from my regular rotation. Definitely worth a play!

Finally, there were several versions of this released over the years - several of which were on the NES itself (the Japanese disk game that featured food advertisements - Kaettekita Mario Bros, the initial US/JPN port with elements cut out due to ROM size restrictions, this - the "classic" PAL edition, and the bonus game in Super Mario Bros. 3), along with the pseudo-sequels: Mario Bros. Special and Punch-Ball Mario Bros. were both released as Japanese PC-8801 exclusives by Hudson, and for the Virtual Boy, Mario Clash.
