Описание: It’s not everyday you get to learn how to ice skate thanks to a PRO! 🏒 🥅

I got to visit Kraken Community IcePlex in Northgate and get a BTS look at their medical pavilion, restaurant, skating rinks, riding a Zamboni and even the player practice locker room.

We spent time learning about heart health, including the importance of exercising and eating healthy thanks to Dr. Amy Bishop with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. February’s Heart Month is all about spreading messages on reducing the risk of heart disease and the vital work at the Center for Cardiovascular Health at VMFH. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women and people of most racial and ethnic groups.

It was then time to work on some of that #hearthealth in real life with some exercising on the ice- thanks to Kraken NHL PRO, Jaden Schwartz. I think I held my own… sort of.

No. 17 Jaden Schwartz is the alternate captain for the Seattle Kraken. He’s originally from Saskatchewan, Canada, and has been on skates since he was 3 years old. He was selected 14th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2010 NHL entry draft and signed a five year deal with the Kraken back in 2021.

I ended the day with a ride on the Zamboni. I may or may not have driven it myself. SO awesome! You also can get the chance to ride on one at Climate Pledge Arena!
