Pathibhara Mata Temple is one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Nepal, located in Taplejung District of Province No. 1, in the eastern Himalayas. The temple lies at an altitude of about 3,794 meters (12,448 ft) above sea level. It is dedicated to Goddess Pathibhara (Durga), believed to be a powerful and wish-fulfilling deity.

Pilgrims from Nepal and neighboring India visit the shrine, especially during special occasions, to offer prayers and animal sacrifices. The temple is not only a religious site but also a place of natural beauty, offering stunning views of the Kanchenjunga range and other Himalayan peaks.

The journey to Pathibhara involves a trek of several hours from Phungling Bazaar (the district headquarters of Taplejung), passing through lush forests, waterfalls, and cultural villages. • Flight KTM–Bhadrapur (50 min) / Bus (12–14 hrs)
• Jeep Bhadrapur–Phungling via Ilam & Phidim (8–10 hrs)
• Overnight stay at Phungling (hotels & lodges available)

Day 2: Phungling → Kaflepati → Phedi → Pathivara Temple
• Jeep Phungling–Kaflepati (1.5–2 hrs)
• Trek Kaflepati–Phedi–Pathivara Temple (3–4 hrs)
• Tea houses & lodges available at Phedi for food & night stay

Day 3: Return
• Trek back to Kaflepati → Jeep to Phungling
• Drive back to Bhadrapur → Flight/Bus to Kathmandu
