In the following video we are going to explore the Goddess of Sullurepeta (గ్రామ దేవత) "Sri Changalamma Parameswari Ammavaari Devasthanam". A powerful Goddess formally known as Goddess Durgamatha.

"The Chengalamma Temple in Sullurpeta, Andhra Pradesh, is a historic shrine on the Kalangi River bank, dedicated to Goddess Chengalamma (also called Tenkali), famous for its unique idol with half Parvati/half Saraswati features, faces the sea.

Village Origin:
The village grew around the temple and was named Chengali Peta, later Anglicized to Sullurpet by the British.

Significance:
It's considered a powerful village goddess (Grama Devata) that grants boons, with devotees visiting for the large annual fair (Jatara).

The Chengalamma Temple in Sullurupeta celebrates its major Annual Festival (Tirunallu) with grand processions, fireworks, and rituals like the unique "Sullu" (circling a goat) and "Teppotsavam" (boat festival) in the Kalangi River.

History :

Sullurpet Chengalamma Temple's history dates to the 4th-5th centuries, where the goddess, initially called Tenkali (Dakshina Kali), manifested near the Kalangi River, becoming the village deity, Chengalamma, known for fulfilling wishes and facing the sea. Legends say a naturally formed idol was found by boys, later installed after devotees couldn't move it, eventually leading to the village named Chengali Peta (Sullurpet).

3) Temple Timings :-
Open daily from 6 AM to 9 PM; no tickets needed for basic darshan.100rs entry fee for Garbhalaya Darshan.
Darshan: Free entry; special abhishekams available at set times (e.g., 8-8:30 AM).
