With Covid still playing a part with travelling in Scotland Calmac have introduced scheduled cleaning breaks in between sailings on the Largs to Cumbrae sailings allowing the vessels to be thoroughly cleaned and made safe for the busy service.
With the regular vessel Loch Shira having had technical issues the MV Loch Riddon was brought into cover her sailings, unfortunately she was too small to cope alone so the original custom built Cumbrae ferry MV Isle of Cumbrae was brought in to assist.
This led to a changeover on the service where the Isle of Cumbrae had just arrived in from her namesake Island and was scheduled for a cleaning break whereas the Loch Riddon who had just had her break was coming back into service, thus as the Cumbrae departed the slip the Riddon arrived in.
