On the overnight of December 22-23, 2025, MTA Metro-North Railroad (MNR) delivered four M3As to the Danbury Railway Museum (DRM), which have been donated to the historic collection. The 142 M3As were built by Budd (1982-1985), and have served about 40 years in commuter service in the electric zones of the Hudson and Harlem Lines. While the M3As are planned for replacement by the future M9A order, various factors have led to the early retirement of some cars by MNR. At DRM, they join a robust roster of railroad equipment that spans more than a century of railroading in the Northeastern United States.
