BREXIT BETRAYAL? Burnham Signals Shift on EU Ties, Labour's Pledge Under Fire | Times Now World

Описание: British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has opened the door to a debate on restoring free movement between the United Kingdom and the European Union, reopening a politically sensitive issue at the heart of Brexit. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Burnham said migration patterns had changed since Britain left the EU and argued that the country's future relationship with Brussels required an evidence-based discussion. His remarks have drawn criticism from Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who called the position a “total betrayal” of Brexit voters, while Conservative lawmakers warned about the implications for border control. Labour's 2024 election manifesto ruled out restoring free movement, joining the EU single market or entering a customs union. Burnham is due to meet EU leaders in Brussels on November 20, as Britain weighs options for closer ties with the bloc. No decision to restore free movement has been announced.
