Cavtat is a charming little town less than 20 km south of Dubrovnik. The area is most attractive because of the Mediterranean vegetation covering it. Cavtat is among the region's most desirable tourist destinations with its rich and fascinating historical heritage, beautiful scenery, and a wide range of tourist services.
Cavtat, originally a Greek settlement known as Epidauros, came under Roman rule around 228 BC and later became a Roman colony. In the 15th century, it became part of the Republic of Ragusa.

Some of the notable attractions in Cavtat include the Rector's Palace, the Baroque church of St. Nikola, the Franciscan monastery, Bogišić's scientific collection, the Vlaho Bukovac Art Gallery, the Račić Mausoleum, archaeological sites, the city walls, and the Šipun cave.
Numerous beautiful beaches are the main reason Cavtat is a desirable summer destination for most visitors. Crystal clear and unpolluted sea depths offer perfect refreshment in the hot summer days.
Cavtat provides a 7-kilometre promenade that runs through pine forest paths, just a few meters from the sea. Along the waterfront, various bars and restaurants are available for visitors. These places offer different food options, from inexpensive pizza and pasta to local delicacies and fresh seafood dishes at higher prices.
Cavtat is very well connected with major Croatian cities through Dubrovnik and Cilipi Airport, while local communications with the surroundings include ship and bus lines.
Although Cavtat is a small town, it has much to offer.
