(6 Nov 2015) German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere on Friday called on Albanians to stop requesting political asylum in Germany.
Speaking in the Albanian capital Tirana on Friday, de Maiziere said that "there is no political persecution here" and therefore no reason to grant asylum on these grounds.
About 50,000 Albanians have asked for asylum in Germany this year - the second largest number after Syrian refugees.
