Found many leaking SMD capacitors on both Read/Write and PZ03 boards. Unfortunately the level of corrosion encountered on the Read/Write board was very severe and had not only corroded many tracks on both sides of the board but also entered onto the bias and so contact from top to bottom of PCB was lost as well as middle layers. Coupled with the widespread corrosion to tracks most IC, capacitor and resistor legs,had been affected. I repaired a few surface Traces and replace all capacitors with a mixture of SMD tantalum and miniature through hole type but this did not rectify fault. In order to repair this, both connected boards must be sent to Dr DCC in America and exchanged for new boards at a cost of approximately $270. IMO this is not worth it, as I was unable to test the head or other parts of the circuitry, so couldn't be 100% sure the boards would resolve the problem.
Compared to a professional DAT recorder, I do not rate the DCC format or the DD-82s build quality/long term reliability.
