This fire pit starts out as a basic steel stud box wrapped with Duroc. The box is 18" by 30". Only three sides have Duroc because there needs to be an access for the propane tank.

The faux rock was adhered using a tile adhesive used specifically for backsplash applications. It's fairly expensive but bonds to the Duroc very well. The faux rock was the pro stack gray drift from environmental stoneworks in southern Utah.

Cast concrete can was tinted charcoal. Use 5000 PSI concrete and reinforcing mesh about mid way through the concrete. Leave an opening in the top to run the plumbing for the propane later.

Propane was aged using ammonia and salt. When bending copper pipes be very careful because they can easily kink. I bent it gently over a radius with my hands. Clear coat must be used to retain the patina and it must be a high temperature clear coat for obvious reasons.
