Well, I like BOTH kinds of music too! Thrash Metal and Melodic Death Metal!

I breakdown the guitar lesson into two parts.

The thrash metal part of the riff has a classic metal feel to it. It's choppy with palm muting and has those wicked single-notes that go back and forth.

The second part of the combined thrash and melodic death metal riff is the faster and more complex part of this rhythm guitar lesson.

The melodic death metal style part of the riff has you alternate picking the rhythm and hitting notes between two strings (the E and A) while fast-alternate picking.

That last part for melodic death metal can be a challenge, but I encourage you to keep practicing until you get it!

Once you learn both parts of the thrash and melodic death metal riff, I want you to play the riff all the way through. You can always go back to those parts of the video to learn.
