5 tips while introducing ragi to your babies

✳️Ragi is a super millet rich in calcium, minerals, and insoluble fibers which can be consumed throughout the year irrespective of winters or summers.
So, how to prevent constipation due to ragi in babies?
1) Always select sprouted ragi flour for 6 months+ babies, as sprouting not only increases the nutrient content by three- fold but also help in reducing the antinutrients thereby making it easily digestible.
2) Cook the ragi flour in 4x times more water content , so that it swells up nicely by bringing it to boil. Ragi soaks lots of water in them hence cooking like this help in mobilising through GI tract.
3) Babies as young as 6 months can be fed on ragi milk sap which is cooked by overnight soaking ragi seeds, grinding & straining the ragi milk which on thickening over low heat on gas stove is equally rich in nutrition but devoid of loads of insoluble fiber.
4) Adding fruits like ripe banana, chikkoo, steamed pear, plum, ripe papaya along with few drops of ghee with ragi porridge make the combination of soluble & insoluble fiber making it easy to digest.
5)Roasted flaxseed powder, chia egg on adding in ragi recipes help in reducing constipation.
Lastly keep in mind, although ragi is a superfood , offering it 3-4 times of week along with adequate amount of water and other balanced nutrition helps in preventing constipation in kids.
